151 GWR Postcards GWR official Postcards: Tregenna Castle and The Fishguard Bay Hotel. Together with a couple of official GWR 'Appreciation Cards' for loyalty during the strike Oct 10th 1919 and May 21st 1923; both issued to a Mr C.G. Rider who became the GWR Travelling Passenger Agent in the USA later in his career. Additionally a good quantity of official cards with 'Paddington Station' at the top and the Great Western Railway twin shield coat of arms with General Manager below at top right, quite possibly compliment slips for a few lines of notes to be added. Finally a very interesting 'Great Western Railway and Windsor Guide' c1840/50 priced two pence, quite delightful and original. £90 1138

153 King Locomotive Cast iron model of GWR King Class Locomotive 6000 King George V. Heavy item believed to have been cast at Swindon Works as a commemorative piece for the visit of the loco to the USA. Just over 12" buffer to buffer and in extremely good condition. Belonged to Mr C.J. Rider who was Public Relations & Publicity Officer for the Great Western Railway both in New York and London through his career. £130 1975
154 GWR ephemra Leather bound Desk Tidy with a pair of glass inkwells, a rotating calendar, a couple of dipping pens and a delightful wooden handled rubber stamp with 'Great Western Railway Of England' on the face and the stamping face reading 'Great Western Railway Of England C.J. Rider Travelling Passenger Agent 500 First Avenue New York'. A large photograph of 505 Fifth Avenue accompanies to show the office where he worked. The ground floor was the Canadian National Railways office, first floor the Santa Fe office and second floor the GWR office. Also with this an unopened pack and a half box of Business Cards for this person showing his New York address. Also a small miscellany of paper correspondence and an interesting 'Ontario Liquor Permit' dated 1928 and a small collection of stamped envelopes from around the world addressed to Mr Rider whilst in his position with BR at Paddington in the early 1950's. Finally, a large opening desk diary/calendar/blotter in leatherette binding presented to Mr Rider by the News Of The World in 1959 - unused and in original despatch packaging. 155 GWR Silverware Three presentation pieces to C.J. Rider from his days as Travelling Passenger Agent in New York. The significant piece is a Peruvian Silver Table Cigarette Box inlaid on the lid with a silver Peruvian Sol coin dated 1888. The makers mark on the base is 'Kohler Peru Amana, Plata Esterlina 925'. Overall weight 410gms. Inside is a business card with a note on the back from Charles Grafton Atkins, Traffic Information Officer, Desamparados Station Peru The second item is a pocket Cigarette Case bearing a large image of the Inca God of the Mountains on the case cover. Probably not silver as there are no others marks. Finally, a small Lighter with Canadian National Railways in green red & gold enamel both sides. £120 2474

158 Baltimore & Ohio Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Centenary Medal, 1927 by Hans Schuler Sr. (American, born Germany, 1874-1951). Circular bronze with image of early train engine, text below image, "PETER COOPER'S 'TOM THUMB'", text circling image, "THE BALTIMORE AND OHIO RAILROAD COMPANY / 1827-1927". The Obverse has train speeding toward viewer on diagonal with allegorical figure above, text circling image: "ONE HUNDRED YEARS / SAFETY STRENGTH SPEED". Commemorates 100th anniversary of the railroad. Bronze, 2¾" diameter. In original box with small card description. £30 2102

Brass plate affixed to the bottom of the frame reads 'King George V The most powerful locomotive in the British Isles built at the Great Western Railway Company's Works Swindon England June 1927'. 173 Live Steam Engine Live steam Stationary Boilers, qty two. The first is a 4¾" brass boiler with a retractable meths burner beneath and an oscillating vertical cylinder driving a horizontal wheel. Mounted on a wooden plinth, it is untested but moves freely. The second is incomplete and is a heavy brass boiler 7" in length with a small pressure gauge fitted and a pump contraption. Loose in the box is a cylinder and chimney. A bit of an oddity to say the least. £40 224

199 isambard kingdom brunel Great Western Railway half yearly reports, qty 2 of great significance. The first is dated 25th February 1841 whereby the main report is by Charles Russell and the Engineers Report by I.K. Brunel.
