381 A pair of original oil paintings by artist Alan Ward who was at one time Guild of Railway Artists. Both are 20" x 16" canvas size, 25" x 21" in wooden frames. The first is of Gresley LNER A4 Pacific 4482 GOLDEN EAGLE depicting the train in blue livery in the background and a Golden Eagle on nest in the foreground. The second is of Gresley LNER A4 Pacific 4483 KINGFISHER depicting the train in blue livery in the background and a pair of Kingfishers in the foreground. Both have some damage but extremely desirable nevertheless. £30 671
382 Watercolour of the 'LMS Design For The Stamp Medal' The image shows the face and obverse of the medal side by side with a small amount of ribbon visible. The medal has full title on face with an old and new loco chimney blasting smoke. The obverse has 'For Courage 1938'. Josiah Stamp was Chairman and later the President of the LMS when the medal design was submitted. The silver medal had a dark blue ribbon. The main side of the medal displayed two locomotive chimneys (one of the Rocket type and the other of an older LNWR locomotive superimposed upon the front end of a streamlines Pacific and the sun: the reverse showed the driving wheel of a locomotive overlain by a frond with "FOR COURAGE" around the edge. The year of award was added. The information on awards came from Carry On (an LMS tabloid) and from Board Minutes. Recipients included Van boy Wilfred Schofield of Manchester Victoria; Dockgateman W.J. Mansell of Garston Docks (he subsequently received a 'bar' for further bravery); Driver C.H. Peberdy of Toton; Chief Foreman H.J. Taylor of Poplar Docks (for rescuing horses during the blitz); posthumous award to Fireman M. Brear of Manningham; Stableman-in-Charge William Graham Day of Haydon Square London for saving horses during bombing raids (he subsequently received a 'bar' for further bravery); Chief Officer of Duke of York for his bravery during the evacuation of St. Valery; Goods Porter John William Booth at Wicker (Sheffield) for work rescuing horses and for rescuing a railwayman with Special Constable Herbert George Thomas also of Wicker who also received the Medal; Ganger C.W. Skelcher of Lancaster for rescuing two boys from the River Lune (a non-war related action). Skelcher was the last to receive his award from Lord Stamp as he together with his wife and son were hilled during an air raid on 16 April 1941Measures 24" x 16" and 30½" x 20¾" in frame. 385 Early Eriksson England Telephone of square design having an early type handset with thin handle and fixed metal earpiece & mic. The side has a winding ringer handle and the whole item stands 12¾" tall. The original paint is starting to flake but is mainly still there. Although not marked with railway company initials, it resided at one time in the Chief Architects Office Eastleigh Works. £80 554

388 Great North Eastern Railway brass Plaque as fitted to the GNER Carriages. Curved with the pattern number FS01 embossed in large letters on rear. Not drilled or painted therefore never fitted or carried. However, it believed to be an original stores item. Approximately 19¾" diameter across centre line. £60 2067

394 GWR Occurrences Log Book for the GWR Fire Station Swindon Works 3rd January 1938 to 28th September 1942 and a similar 28th September 1942 to 12th January 1948. Hand written, this fascinating insight into day to day occurrences at the Works. Together with a typed report 'GWR Notes On Proposed Reconstruction Of Paddington Station - Chief Engineers Office January 1947'. Another fascinating document which is housed in a blue hardback folder embossed GWR on cover. £65 2754
395 GWR hardback folder containing over 80 foolscap side elevation Drawings of Commercial Vehicles, many of which were undoubtedly used on the Railways.
